Baby Blues

Before Priya was born I had no idea of the emotions that come with having a baby. No one prepares you for how over whelmed and in love you will become with your newborn. It’s indescribable.

On day 3 after giving birth I got baby blues. Baby blues are very common, 70% of mums suffer from baby blues, but I was unaware of them. I cried from 6am to 10pm. I was tired, VERY hormonal and utterly in love. I was also worried. Why was I crying so much? Was this normal? Did I have post natal depression? My partner told me to go lay down and have a nap it will help. But I couldn’t. I missed my baby. She was only in the next room but I missed her.

Thankfully, my baby blues only lasted 1 day. The next day I woke up feeling myself again. I could finally have a conversation, eat my cereal & shower without crying.

After looking up baby blues I realised the symptoms where exactly what I had…

  • Β feeling weepy
  • Mood swings
  • Anxiety
  • Crying
  • Appetite loss

I wish I knew more about baby blues so I hope this helps. Just remember, if you get it, you’re not alone.
